G.A.R.D.E.N. Inc. enters the blogosphere!

G.A.R.D.E.N. Inc. stands for Growing Alternative Resource Development and Enterprise Network. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization working in the arenas of arts and culture, environmental awareness, education and healing the planet. This blog is going to be a forum for reporting on our efforts to help heal the world, one step at a time.

G.A.R.D.E.N. Inc. promotes the use of alternative technologies through our daily operations and outreach activities. Our company vehicle is an electric bicycle and is used regularly for business outings and activities. Test rides are given on almost every outing to people who are interested in learning more about electric bicycles for transportation. In fact, I have inspired at least two Tucson business owners to purchase and utilize electric bicycles as their regular business mode of transportation. Thanks so much to Deborah Mayaan for documenting her experiences in the Jewish Post! See the following article for details: http://azjewishpost.com/2011/on-electric-bike-zooming-around-tucson-is-a-breeze/.

In fact, G.A.R.D.E.N. Inc. is so dedicated to promoting alternative modes of transportation that we have a tandem bicycle available for rental on an hourly or daily basis. Try this wonderful relationship-building method of transportation and experience the joys of riding a bicycle built for two! Call our offices today to make arrangements and set a date.

We rely almost solely on earned income for all of our activities, and a product that we have available for sale are pint containers of composting earthworms, those little critters that love to eat all of your kitchen waste and thrive on the rinds that you leave behind. Composting earthworms will become your best friends and they will soon provide you with rich compost for your home gardens. Contact me if you would like to learn more about getting some worms and setting up your own home composting bin.

And on we go! Our daily activities involve providing grantwriting, project development, consulting and advisement for more than 35 not-for-profit and for-profit organizations and businesses in the local Tucson community, around the country and all over the world. Our website will be available soon as a portal for ongoing connections.

Today, I represented G.A.R.D.E.N. Inc. at the Jewish Community Relations Council Annual Meeting and got to hear an inspiring speaker named Robert Morris, Vice President Corporate Development, LivingPlanIT, http://living-planit.com. He spoke about the four multinational corporations that now control the entire food industry in the United States, and how it is imperative that we work together to find solutions to the challenges that are before us. The JCRC is a subsidiary of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona (www.jfsa.org) and is a community of people dedicated to tikkun olam, to repairing the world. The current Food Stamp Challenge that they are initiating is a wonderful consciousness raising tool toward taking a step in that direction (http://www.jewishtucson.org/section.aspx?id=4). May we live in a world where all who are hungry may be fed.

And let's give a shout out to some of the amazing organizations that we get to work with each day!
